My Personal Theory of Writing

When it comes to my own personal theory of writing or my process of writing there are three parts that I follow in order to successfully write an effective piece of text. The first part is about how to approach this particular text. It would be ineffective to just simply jump into the actual process of typing out all your writing when you have no idea what your objectives are and other things we need to consider. The second part is about how to organize your text. This explains how we could put together our ideas, reasons, details, and other parts of the text together in order to make it cohesive and have a nice flow to it as well. The last part would be about the drafting. This part of the process helps to catch your small grammatical mistakes, but more importantly if the content of your writing is correct so that it follows the objective.

The Approach part of the process of my writing focuses on the things you need to consider in order to begin writing out the text. After receiving the question or the objective of the writing assignment the two main things that I first consider are purpose and audience. The purpose of my writing would explain why I have this certain belief about something or an explanation of what subject your text would be getting into. This would then lead to the reasons of your purpose or the details. The audience would be considered as well. This helps to have your text to be able to easily connect to your readers. This would also lead to deciding what type of genre you'd be choosing for this type of text.

The Organizing part of the process puts together all of your ideas. Your purpose are tied together with your reasons, as well as the details of your writing. In this process I think of an introduction that could casually transition to the purpose of my writing. Then after that I plan out how I want to place my reasons or details so that it would better support my purpose. Whether it would be by the importance of the reasons or details being in chronological order, it depends on what genre I chose and also the other things I considered in the Approach process.  Once my text has finally been organized I could begin actually typing out my text and have it prepared for the next step of the writing process.

The Drafting is the last step helps to catch all the mistakes you may have made while writing. I give my text for someone else to read who is also aware of what the question was for my assignment or the objective of my assignment. It would be important for them to know the question or objective because they may have a clearer understanding which could lead them to seeing that the content may not actually make sense at all. Also, this part of the process helps to catch my simple grammatical errors all throughout the text.

In my portfolio includes an artifact before the finalized text. Each artifact shows mistakes that I have made in my text before I've actually made the finishing touches. This is presented in my portfolio in order to show what part of my personal theory of writing I may have not followed so that the text is less effective than it could actually be. With the artifact you could compare the rough draft with my final draft in order to see the positive differences that were made to help make the last draft a more effective piece of text.

The artifacts also include how I was able to develop my personal theory of writing throughout these assignments. There are parts of my writing process that I demonstrated in these artifacts. Some artifacts would follow part of my writing process, but ignore or give least importance to another part of the writing process. But what my artifacts were able to do was to pin point what was helpful to add to my writing process in order to make my text effective for later use.
So, each artifact was strong in one part of the writing process I have now, but weak on other parts. One artifact, which was a narrative helped in developing the organizing part of the process. This helped in figuring out what strengths I had in the text that I could add to my own writing process. Another artifact, which was a letter, focused on the drafting. This helped to fix a lot of errors in the content of my letter, because of this it showed how important the process of drafting was to me.
Many of the artifacts also ignored aspects that were important to know in order to have an effective writing. So, that also was a big help in improving my writing process. For example, the audience wasn't considered in one artifact so the genre was completely wrong for the text. In another artifact the reasons could have been organized properly to make the text more effect which also helped in developing my own writing process.

I plan to improve my own writing by trial and error. As I continue to create different kinds of texts, I'll able to find an aspect I thrived in while writing so that I could add that to my own writing process. If my writing was missing something that could have made my text more effective I could add that to own process of writing as well. Pushing to create different kinds of variety of texts would help to put my writing process to practice, which would then help to find what improvements I could make to my writing process so that my writing could improve as well.
